- The Black Country Museum - The Black Country is
used to refer to the area surrounding Birmingham since much
of it was clouded over by the black smoke from the iron
foundries. This museum is an excellent living preservation
of Birmingham and its industrial era.
- Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery -This museum
and art gallery is nationally renowned for its diverse
exhibits of local and natural history, archeaology and
ethnography as well as an enormous collection of European
paintings with an emphasis on the Pre-Raphaelite period.
- Barber Institute of Fine Arts - The Barber
Institute of Fine Arts hosts an impressive collection of art
by the well-known artists from the 13th century up to the
mid-20th century. The Institute was founded in 1932 in
memory of Sir Henry Barber.
- Museum of the Jewellery Quarter - This
award-winning museum offers you a chance to see a real
jewellery factory and learn about its history and different
aspects since the city took on this industry since the 19th
century. You can also purchase jewellery and souvenirs
inside.
- Coughton Court - This court belongs to the
Throckmorton family since the 15th century and is one of the
region's most notable historic houses. The court has many
interesting exhibits, some of which are the Gunpowder Plot
of 1605 and the children's clothes exhibition.
- Selfridges Building - Dominating the city
center's landscape is an outrageous architecture which is
home to Birmingham's most colorful shopping center. Here
you'll find host of stores, cafes and restaurants to spend a
day's worth of shopping, eating and hanging out.
- Cadbury World - This popular establishment allows
visitors to indulge in chocomaniac activities such as
visiting the chocolate factory, riding a beanmobile,
treading down Cocoa Road, and purchasing delicious
chocolates at discount prices. Highly recommended.
- National Sea Life Center - The outstanding
feature of this aquarium is its 360°
transparent tunnel which allows you to walk along the tunnel
surrounded by swimming sharks and other marine lives
overhead. The Center is connected to the Selfridges
Building.
- Dudley Zoo and Castle - The Dudley Zoo is home to
a multitude of animals from every continent including
endangered species and common cattle flocks. The Castle
located on the hilltop is now mostly ruins, but the
panoramic views from this spot is magnificent.
